Independent Roofing Inspection for London Homes
A site-based assessment of roof condition, cause of any defects identified, and realistic repair options - carried out independently of any roofing contractor.
- 100% Independent. Not tied to any repair or injection companies.
Introduction
RICS surveys routinely flag roofs as “approaching end of useful life” or recommend “further investigation by a roofing specialist.” What that means in practice – whether it’s a £500 repair or a £15,000 replacement – is rarely clear from the survey alone. Our roofing inspections are carried out by experienced specialists and reported independently. We do not carry out roofing works and have no commercial interest in what you decide to do next.
What we inspect
- Roof covering - tiles, slates, flat roof membranes, condition and remaining life expectancy
- Flashings, valleys, and abutments
- Gutters, downpipes, and rainwater goods
- Chimney stacks and associated pointing
- Roof structure where accessible (ridge, verges, eaves)
- Evidence of past or active water ingress
What you receive
- Written report with photographs of all findings
- Assessment of urgency - maintenance, near-term repair, or immediate action required
- Realistic London cost ranges for any works identified
- Independent - the surveyor who inspects does not quote for repairs

FAQ
01
My survey said the roof is ‘nearing end of life’ - does that mean I need a new roof?
Not necessarily. ‘Nearing end of life’ is standard cautionary language used when a roof covering is ageing but not yet failed. Whether that means immediate replacement, phased repair, or monitoring depends on the specific covering, its current condition, and how the building is used. Our inspection gives you a specific assessment rather than a general caveat.
02
Can the same specialist carry out the repair?
No. Specialists instructed through Survey Remedy are engaged for inspection and reporting only. This separation is deliberate – it ensures findings are objective and not commercially motivated.
03
How quickly can you attend?
We typically confirm attendance within 2–3 working days. Reports are issued within 48 hours of the site visit.
04
Do you inspect flat roofs?
Yes. We inspect both pitched and flat roofs, including felt, EPDM, GRP, and asphalt coverings.
