Buildings Insurance Exchange Completion

Do I Need Buildings Insurance Before Completion?

Yes. You must have buildings insurance from exchange of contracts, not completion. From that day, you’re legally responsible if the property is damaged.

What to Cover

  • Rebuild cost (not market value)
  • Fire, flood, storm, and subsidence
  • Theft or malicious damage

Provide your policy certificate to your solicitor before exchange.
